Ebay purchase

Given that I had no luck with the re-editions this week, I decided to buy the Magheeta jacket/cardigan from Holiday 07 that was on ebay this week. I coveted this when it came in. I believe it runs small (I got the large), but hope that it will be OK as I am narrow in the front, despite having a broad back. Knits tend to be more forgiving. If all else fails, I can sell it again, but I hope that it works out. I got the ivory/gold combination. Maybe when I finally find a Tana in gold (resort 07), I can wear the two together.

I think that sweater is great-nice ebay find! Can't wait to see a pic or see it on you in person

Nice to see you yesterday and the rest of the ladies. It is fun to see the clothes on everyone else and all the older pieces people are wearing. Chelsea's white jacket, your skirt, Maryam's (do I have the right name/face?) orange top.

And LivKate, thank you for handing off the avignon amalfi, I know I will wear it a ton-so thanks again!! I tried on this am again and really like it even more. The fabric hangs and swings so nicely. I hope you find another item in the coming weeks!

I am sure I will see you all soon

Also,ps,does anyone have the Ana Claudia dress? I have in white but have not worn it and am really not sure I will. Do you think it would be interesting to cut about 6 inches and wear it as a long top over skinny jeans. Is that sacrilege ;-)

Lastly, la garconne, still no mark downs- sad. Someone was talking about the Thea dress yesterday and they can still find it there but full price.

moya-i was also looking at the sweater i hope it goes well..i think you will be able wear it a bunch..
julie- the ana claudia in the white is so pretty... a dress i actually wanted so much...it kind of reminds me of the cream cordoba(sp)..another dress i missed...i have the black and can't wait till the weather gets better...

hey i think it would not be sacrilege to cut it..i really think you can customize anything and it will just bring more of your personality out... but think about it because it is such a PRETTY dress as is...

Julie,

I am so happy you bought the Avignon -- it really suits you and you looked lovely in it. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE forgive me for referring to you as Joyce (?! - I am not even sure where I got that name from) in my previous post (I must have been really tired last night) -- I realized the mistake the second after I hit the "Publish Your Comment" button and then my husband kicked me off the computer before I had a chance to retract.

Moya - If it doesn't fit, let me know! I was coveting the same sweater on ebay and wondered where it went :)

It was so nice to meet everyone today. It's so fun to put faces with the names and conversations we have here.

Julie - email me the next time you come to sono. I'd still really like to try on the dress and I'm fairly certain it will fit!

Julie - the shoulders on the dress are so interesting. Do you think there would be too much volume if you were to cut it as a top? What size is it?

Leanne--I will absolutely let you know if it doesn't fit. It was great to meet you and Cindy yesterday and see Julie again. Everybody is so nice.

Julie, I think the Ana Claudia would make a great top, but try wearing it as a dress and see if that works before you do something irreversible.

Lorochills/Moya/Leanne, Thank you for your thoughts on the Ana Claudia. I will need to think more on it..

Leeann, yes, the cut out shoulders are very cool. It is a size 6 and too big on me, adding to the volume factor..

LivKate, no worries at all! It is hard to keep track of all the names.

ugh, i've been out of commission with an infection, but so happy to hear about your lyell visit in particular. that green cardigan sounds like exactly what i need!

so nice that everyone got to meet, i wish i could be out and about instead of cooped up at home. the weather is improving, though, which is promising.

i hope the Magheeta fits, the yarn is really lovely.

I hope you feel better soon, Erica. The Lyell cardigan is lovely and the colors are so beautiful. I hope you get to see them soon.

How is Leon doing? I love the photos on your other blog.

nice score, moya! i'm sure the sweater will look lovely on you. i called into mayle this morning and bought a sylvestre dress in villa rita. originally i had hoped for something in silk, but after thinking about it, cotton will be fine (maybe even preferable since i'll probably wear it more). does anyone know how the sylvestre fits? i got the 4 upon the salesgirl's suggestion but i'm usually a 6. hopefully it will work out....

Hi Joyce,

Sylvestre runs big so you should be fine. I got the 6 and I am usually an 8. I think you'll get a lot of wear out of it and the buttons are beautiful.

joyce,

It's good that you got 4 -
I am usually 2-4, and I got size 4 ( because all size 2 were gone) and it is definitely big on me I need to do some alteration.
It does run big and I don't know whhich tailor to go-

Julie, LivKate, Moya- Do you guys know any great tailor I can trust in NYC?
Sylvestre is not as simple as it looks.

moya and chelsea -- thanks for the reassurance. i think it'll be a dress i can wear a lot. now if only the weather would cooperate and warm up just a bit more!

Chelsea,

When I lived in NYC I used to get all my Mayle tailored at my drycleaner. the woman did an excellent job (splendid cleaners on Perry & Hudson). There is also a great tailor on Rivington btwn Ludlow & Orchard. Also I wear anything from a 2-10 in Mayle depending on the cut I and I got the 4 which Elise said would be perfect for me. I even texted Doris for a 2nd opinion!

Thank you for the info Marti!

I live in greenwich village so I think I can easily walk to your cleaner on perry & hudson.

I googled and apparently that rivington street between ludlow and orchard is full of tailors!!!
I cannot believe I've never noticed this thing when I walked by the street million times.

There are Felix, Cortorreal, Express,, and some others.
Do any of these names ring a bell?

and I checked out your blog and flikr images and you do have most lovely mayle collection.
SO JEALOUS.

I asked Elise before I buy and she told me that it will be big on me.
but she thought I can take it in easily it won't be a problem.. but I am so afraid someone mess it up so I need a good tailor..

Hi Chelsea I cant remember the name of the one on rivington, but the woman at splendid has always done all of my mayle alterations. They can just be costly FYI.

Thanks so much Marti,
I will go to Splendid on Hudson.
I would rather spend extra $$ for someone I can trust..
I can't wait for better weather when I can wear my dress!!!
