Trickling in...

As part of my early morning procrastination (I have 40 papers to grade today...), I checked out eluxury to see if Mayle's resort collection was in. As luck would have it, two dresses are now up there--the Melia in white and the Jemeen, both shown above (the store will also have these in the black and white colorways). I love both of them, especially Melia. Of course, these are not the two on my must have list, which makes me realize I am going to have to get them from the store, maybe even at full price, or just pass on them entirely. Having seen these two dresses at eluxury, I think I'm going to want a lot from resort, but of course, I can't afford it if they aren't going on sale. If eluxury is only taking two pieces, this is going to be a pretty limited collection, although I hope other pieces trickle in. I think these are classic Mayle dresses with beautiful detailing. Nobody else has anything from resort (yet?), although I'm hoping Hush isn't the only online retailer to carry it. I expect LaGarconne will get a fair amount in, but we know that we'll have to wait for years for any discounts.

I was a bad girl last night. After working all day, I decided to check ebay. They had a pair of Mayle Vita pants in size 8 with an auction ending soon. I got them even though another person bid just 24 cents less than my maximum bid 15 seconds before the auction ended. I tried them on in Bird last summer--they were a tiny bit tight but looked great. I just didn't want to spend over $100 on an item that didn't fit perfectly. At a shade under $70, however, they are an incentive to get back into better shape (and they fit, just the button was a little tight on the waistband).

There's also the issue of what I will wear the most--I love my dresses but in the winter I need sweaters and basics, like Steven Alan shirts, while in the height of summer, I have to get cotton dresses. Most of my Mayle frocks are silk.

the top dress is the one i loved from the poster (in black). it is so gorgeous. but $695?!?! ouch.

the vita pants look like a good staple. i was watching a pair on ebay, too, but i couldn't justify yet another pair of black pants. the ebay pickings have been slim lately, and some of the prices sellers are asking are pretty ridiculous.

I only have three pairs of black pants, so these were a decent buy for me. I can understand why you didn't opt for them as they are very basic. I was surprised that all her pants sold out in the larger sizes this season as they tend to be the last thing to go.

I agree with you about the ebay pickings. Some of the stuff is so ugly and dated (and I mean it was ugly before it went out of style). I also don't like people labeling items Mayle that aren't. I'm staggered that some sellers think a dress from 6-6 years ago could sell for $400-600. But mainly, I'm disappointed that people aren't selling much from recent collections. I suppose, like us, they are holding onto their finds.

i agree, the price is a bit much for me right now. i am excited to see what else is available online, though.

as for the Vita pants, $70 is a great price for any pair of nice black pants, and i'm sure these will work out really well for you.

i'm actually selling my rita cardigan on ebay right now. it never really fit in the shoulders, especially since i wanted to layer it. my mistake for buying a small when i could have bought a medium. urgh.

i still haven't worn my Galina yet, but it looks pretty good even with the belly. hoping for at least one fancy date night or holiday party to dress up for.

i have 45 papers (8-10pgs) coming in on friday. i'm in a mad rush finish at least half a chapter by then.

i'll post pictures of the Eniko after the shower on saturday. it looks like we're going to brooklyn on sunday!

I can't get the images of resort to show up in Mayle's online shop--how did you manage that, Christina? I'm using Firefox on a Mac.

i don't know how christina found the pictures, but i can only access them by cutting and pasting the url. impulse has a couple pieces up, too, and is already showing that a few sizes in the astrid dress are sold out!! crazy.

I love the fabric of Astrid--this is the first time I have seen it up close (and that means I'll want the shirt version of it that I put on hold). But it is too long for me--I'm glad, though, as it it over $700. I wonder if that's all that will be available online? I have to call Barneys to see what they're stocking. Unfortunately, the posters we have don't feature the names of any items. I wonder if Christina works for a company who does Mayle's website--or if a friend of hers does.

Back to grading...

the astrid is really lovely, but the draping is somehow unexpected for me. i would love to see the fabric in person.

time to go to school, i guess. more office hours, blah. good luck finishing the grading. i have a few make-up exam stragglers to grade today....

Moya, there's a gorgeous Rocio top on eluxury for sale for $169 in an 8! It must be a return or something-- I have never seen it there before.

Looking forward to hearing your report on Mayle. Work was too busy today for me to sneak out. And I am also trying to avoid tempting myself!

Moya,
The images aren't in the shop but they have been uploaded to their site. I assume they will be listed in the ecommerce section soon.

I wish I knew someone who worked for Mayle so I could take advantage of an employee discount. Hmm, now I wonder what they get.
I know html and some database programming so that is the reason I was able to find those images. The directory where they upload their shop images is basically viewable by anyone.
http://shop.mayleonline.com/images/
You can click on the date and see when and what they upload for the shop. On the mac, you can ctrl + click the image link to download it. If you want to take a screen capture of the collection from the site, hold down shift + apple + 4 then select your image area you want. The image you captured will appear on your desktop and then you can upload it to your blog. You may have to convert the image to a jpg to use it online.

Thank you! I think the images went live today--I use a mac so that will be really helpful.
