Coplon's Package

After all the fervor over the VanJean sale yesterday, my package from Coplon's arrived. The Mitsuko top is beautiful--if anything, the Paradiso print appears richer than on the Eniko dress. The collar consists of folded over silk, similar to the folding on Harumi and Kiyoko and has a little hidden fastening. The back is actually really fitted so despite the flowing fabric at the front, the fit is small/true-to-size.

Harumi Kiyoko has a lot of the Eden print--most of the dress from the waist up is in Eden with a big panel at the front in the black skirt fabric, with folded trim details in the black washed silk used on Mitsuko. The skirt itself is a crinkly black--I think it is polyester--and it hangs with a slight balloon cut, probably due to the properties of the fabric itself. The back of the waist is encircled with braid and fabric gathering. It is a lot like Harumi and is really comfortable--I think I will get a lot of use out of it in the spring-fall. It works with boots and tights and looks good with flat Mayle sandals and bare legs, or tights and heels. It's one of those dresses that doesn't knock you out but that you end up living in, even as the stars of your closet wait for the right occasion to come out and play.

Now I have to wait for the VanJean box. I do so hope there is no hike in the prices as I would have to back out of all my purchases. I need that money--not just for Mayle--but for savings, IVF, and the everyday cost of living.

And, yes, I'll publish photos. I realize Harumi Kiyoko, like my pre-fall cardigan, were either not in the lookbooks or very different from the version shown therein.

the harumi kiyoko sounds gorgeous! i love workhorse dresses like that, can't wait to see photos.

i hope we can meet up in late april so i can see one of your new purchases in person.

That would be great! And I hope I can meet your son soon.

Harumi Kiyoko is definitely a workhorse dress. I also love it when Mayle does something more practical like that, even though it is the pretty dresses that naturally catch our eye.

i just cannot believe that van jean would raise the prices. i hope they honor the prices they quoted you.

i will definitely bring the still nameless baby with me next time we're in the city. i am itching to go right now, but of course i have to stay put. the thought of being in labor during a 4.5 hour car ride makes me ill.

moya - thanks for all of you suggestions yesterday. I can't believe that I missed the big sale news at Van jean - what a great deal you got! If the Thea doesn't fit you, I'd be interested. I just came home from work with Marion today. A bit plain, but I think I will get a lot of wear out of it. I almost took Reiko too. It fit, but I don't think it was as loose as it should have been. Hmm. I'm excited to see the photos you post.

After that VanJean drama (I passed on that store goods, don't need that kind of karma, never mind paying money for it), it's so good to hear about your new pretty Mayle dresses. Isn't it so exciting to have it come in the mail? I waited so anxiously last time for my box, it was like being a child again. My Yves is arriving soon, and I hope it fits (yes, this sizing dilemma, I hope all your stuff fits, Moya, and I would love to see the photos). Now, I am looking forward to Mayle's new collection; I miss the store, and the little ritual of my walks around there... Susie, I will email you soon once I can get to my personal computer.

Moya, I can't wait to see pictures of your new additions; they sound wonderful. Judging from the last set of comments (particularly, your previous post), it looks like things have been a whirlwind. As for the vanjean episode, I'm sure they marked it up after all the interest. Once upon a time, I worked at opening ceremony and the management definitely had us price adjust specific things based on popularity/availability at other boutiques (I always felt rotten doing those mark ups). so I'm not surprised. In any case, sorry for the lack of participation. At the moment, I think my credit card needs a hiatus. Certainly we should exchange emails.

leanne-
i bet the marion will be another one of those workhorse dresses.

i've noticed quite a few new mayle ebay listings in wearable sizes 6-8, i wonder where these came from and how much they'll go for?

goodness knows between all of us we could start our own mayle consignment shop!

I agree with Erica about Marion--it's definitely a dress I wish I'd gotten when I found it for $140 in Barneys. It's lovely and you will wear it for years, even if it isn't as stunning as, say, Astrid or Theodora.

I loved getting the box, Kim. I came home to a huge Coplons box with a much smaller industrial ziplock bag inside. Both my items were wrapped in tissue paper and were folded so well they didn't crease. It was like it was my birthday.

Hi Ladies

I feel awkward as I have posted before but do not want to be seen as a lurker :)

Anyway, yes, on ebay, lots of 6s, many are from one seller. Worth checking back often :) I bought the Ada dress and am eagerly waiting for it. Tbd on fit as it is an older piece...we shall see..

Also, there is a store in LA, Confederacy, that has Mayle at 50% off. Not rock bottom prices but worth it if there is piece that slipped by....

Lastly, Harumi= super huge? If one were to buy at the size would they be swimming in it?

Can't wait for the new line and everyone's awesome insights, etc.

Moya, thanks for the new post today, can't wait to dive into it later:)

opps, lots of typos on my last post...to clarify,

I have posted before but not recently...

Harumi, if one were to buy at their normal size, is it just too huge?

Hi Julie,

Nice to meet you! Harumi (the top, not the dress) is very large--I am an 8-10 and tried on the 8 and was swimming in it.I got a 0 which is very roomy--but maybe a 2 would have been better just to get even more drapery around the hips. I would size down with this one for sure.

The dress--Kiyoko--runs only a tiny bit large.

I love the Harumi and would certainly recommend it. The silk feels great on too.

Hi Moya,
Nice to meet you too and look forward to ongoing convos :)

Thanks for the news on Harumi. As I feared, sigh.... I will have to stalk a 2 or 0 on ebay. I found a 4but not sure I want to pay to have it tailored, nor how well that would work out.

Going to stop by the nolita store in a bit, can I ask about any items for you?

Moya said...

I'm sorry, Julie! You should see if they have any left in Mayle and try them on. Mine may be a peculiarly large size 0. There may not be that much difference between the sizes either.

Can you ask in Mayle if they have any Theodoras, Zoras, Melia and Hera left in size 10? Do they still have the boots in a size 40? Also can you check for all of us what the discounts are, give a sense of how much stock is left (including bags).

I think we're all anxious to know if they have any idea when the new clothes will be in, if they'll be all new or some greatest hits, and if there will be any shoes included.

Any reports would be great. Thank you so much.

Julie said...

Hi Moya,

I forgot to ask about Hera in 10. But there are no Theodoras or Melia in 10. They do have a Zora in putty in 10.

I was rushing so did not ask about other merchandise or future discounts.

Information on the new line is old styles in new fabrics. Tbd on handbags and shoes. Should be arriving early March.

Moya said...

Thanks for the info, Julie. I'd imagine if the new stuff is arriving in March it is unlikely that there will be any further markdowns until then (judging from the way that fall only went down to 60% well after resort came in).

Did you get anything? How well stocked was the store?

Julie said...

The store had a decently full rack of holiday/resort. The fall rack had pretty much the same items as it has had in the past few weeks (since the initial sale).

Still lingering was a mix of items, most in smaller sizes (at least on the floor), including: a kaiya top (in 6 or 8), penilope dress and the tank version, a few mitchi tops, marie laure pant (not flattering cut on me, I prefer the eunice much more), mitsuko ivory, hilaire-cuter on than it looks but the skirt is narrow so can not size down, a few claudie tops and the tank version, belda coat in black (size 6), zeta blouse (4)

All nice items but not right for whatever reason for me. I am saving my sheckels for the last line in hopes finding something I absolutely adore. :-)

Julie, thanks for the update! Do you recall what sizes/colors were left in Mitchi? Were they still $190?

Julie said...

Hi Christina,

Sorry, I do not recall the price and all the sizes but I believe there was a rose in 4...do you have your eye on this top?

All in the north east, enjoy the wonderful weather today!
