Insanity/Greed

I just noticed somebody has put a brown Billie Douce up on ebay--starting bid $2,699.00, buy it now, $2,859.00! The greed starts now. Clearly, this is one item that won't go for anything like this price--especially as there is another one up for $399 with no bids. If people are going to be greedy, they should at least be smart enough to check out the other listings to make sure they aren't charging ten times more than other sellers. This bag is not rare. No Mayle item could possibly go for that kind of sum--not even the rarest and most desired gown/bag/coat. From what I've seen, even at $399 this bag may not sell.

wow, that's ridiculous. just looked at the ebay posting and the same person is selling the other brown billie douce that's going for $399.

That makes it even more insane. I wonder why people think they can get away with it. Maybe they think they'll find someone who assumes they are getting something special because they are paying three to four times the retail price.

i was hoping that it was a typo (for the sellers sake)

yikes. you'd have to be out of your mind (or recently blessed with a huge tax return) to buy at that price.

I just looked and it was gone? I am also sad to see that I missed out on the Dora dress (one that I have wanted for ages) and it sold for $69!

I think it was pulled. It had to be a mistake--or maybe a way of trying to get people to bid for the other bag at a mere $399.

I noticed that Dora sold fast for virtually nothing. I think it was a size 2, Marti. I've been after that dress forever. They have a 2 at INA on Prince for about $219, but there is no way it would fit me. I def. need an 8.

It was a 4!!i could do a 4 or a 6. I am bummed. last year at Metier (spring) they had one and it was an 8 but it was still expensive and a bit large. let me know if you ever see a 4 or a 6 and I will do the same for you!

So does anyone own a zhazra top? I think that is what it's called. How is the sizing? Thanks

Oh I guess it is actually called a Jahra top.

moya - can you describe the dora dress? i can't seem to place that one.

Absolutely, Marti--and if you see a 10, I'd go for that too.

Jazhra fits a little small in the back--so I needed a 10. Everywhere else it is true to size.

Dora is the brown brocade dress from Fall 07. It is cut straight down, has cut outs and elaborate buttons at the neckline and buttons at the bottom perpendicular to the hem. The sleeves are in a brown somewhat see through gauze.

I clicked on that $2699 Jane Mayle bag link and it brought me to a Chanel bag. Must have been an error. Ahh, Dora is so lovely and so are all the other dresses from fall 07. I always miss out on the ebay auctions!
