A Few Pieces of Mayle Still Left, On Sale

I thought once the sample sale was over, and I'd spent myself out, that would be it. No more Mayle to buy, end of obsessing, back to work. Some of this happened--I got back to work and I couldn't buy any Mayle, but it seems I'm not alone in still wondering if there is anything left--and, if so, what and where?

Judging from the crazy prices some ebayed items are receiving (albeit not all), others feel the same way. Granted, I am not the type to bid insane amounts in the dying minutes of an auction, but I don't even have a chance as most of what's on ebay these days is in the smaller sizes. So, I'm waiting for the insanity to end, forcing myself to finish the book, and watching from the sidelines.

I did, however, find out that there were a few items left at Odessa in Portland. Susan has great prices and always has been so nice to me. This is what she has left--all at 70% off (and her prices were always less than at Mayle or on the East Coast). I have some of this, and what I don't have generally isn't stuff in my size, alas:

Jeanne knit dress in ivory, XS, S
Jeanne bag in denim
Quintana knit in ivory, XS
Quartina Jacket in ivory, size 6
Vera Coat, size 10
Kasia knit dress in brown, M

Thank you Moya for the update. The ebay prices have been surprising. I was able to get the aurelie blouse you intially had here and the melba floral reiko (which I had thought I bought from Mayle but they never sent me). I was eyeing the federica in amalfi and it was just pulled for some reason. There were 18 bids already so perhaps she decided to keep it. I love that dress and can't believe I missed the original run. Best wishes for the job search. Uma

Also, thanks to Christina, I found a few pieces on sale at V.O.D. in Dallas. I think they may some more but not sure what.

I think a lot of the ebay prices are insane right now--one dress was over $500 and still didn't make the reserve! It will die down. It's a feeding frenzy and I tend to avoid them. All these bubbles burn out, as we know and sanity returns.

Let us know what you found at VOD too--I love hearing about other people's purchases!

I bought the nia skort and the astrid dress, and they gave me very good prices and were very nice. I think Metier may still get some stuff, but with Mayle there are no guarantees! I have printed the list of what they are expecting but they keep telling me that until they actually receive the box they will not be sure! What did you think of the billy travel bag?

Michaela dress in black lotus/rio plata—2 x 1, 4 x 1, 6 x 1=3 pieces @ $470ea
Nieves dress in black with flamingo embroidery—0 x 1, 2 x 1, 4 x 1, 6 x 1=4 pieces @ $190ea
Astrid dress in ultraviolet—2 x 1, 4 x 1=2 pieces @ $550ea

Shijo dress in zebedo black—4 x 1=1 piece @ $470ea
Marius jacket in gattopardo—8 x 2=2 pieces @ $530ea
Vanya dress in red blossom jacquard—4 x 1=1 piece @ $550ea
Billie Voyage bag in brown lizard embossed cowskin—1 piece @ $590ea

Wow, those prices are high! The travel bag is nice but big--Loretta has one in the most beautiful deep purple. It was $395 at the sale.

I think the fact they can sell these at wholesale, probably for more than we paid at the sale, leads to these high prices. But some items like Nieves sold out at the sale so it is also possible Jane already had orders from Metier to fill and couldn't put all her stock in the sale.

just bought the Jeanne bag and mentioned your name. It was $108. pretty good, especially given how much it is going for on ebay!

UM, do you mind if i ask how much the Nia skort is? I am regretting not getting one at the sample sale. Thanks!

it is very cute. I wish I could have bought at sample sale prices, but could not. It was 30-40% off at $276, so likely much more than ss. They may lower it as I asked how much Astrid was (30% off) and declined and then they gave it to me for 50% off.

I'm glad you got it, Uma! It was cheaper than at the sample sale (from what I remember). The bags went fast.

I love my Nia skort but I haven't worn it yet. Which color did you get? I have the black lotus print--for some reason, the goldenrod was more expensive at the sample sale (mine was $75--the goldenrod $125). There was only one black lotus and it was the size 10 I needed. There were hardly any Nia skorts there, which surprised me, but I think they must have sold on the first day (Friends and Family, invite only).

I was at Metier yesterday and they only had the Zoia tops left (2 of them, I think one is a size 4 and one is a 6? I don't remember but I know they are all larger than size 2), and a Billie travel bag. All at 45% off.

I bought the black lotus. I also have the zenith top in that print and was hoping to wear it together as it looks like a romper, but not sure if it looks too silly. I am debating what to do about the sylvana in pansy net. It does not fall properly when I button it across the chest, even though I bought in 6 and normally I am a 2/4. I might just change it to a scoop neck dress as I love the sleeves and the material, or maybe add some material on the inside (a tailor, not me).

Moya said...

I wish I'd been able to get Zenith. I know they had a few left at Mayle and I was waiting for the sample sale, but they went at F and F, alas. I think wearing the two together is a great idea. You also have the versatility of the top. If anybody ever sees this on sale anywhere, I'd love to know about it--I can fit into a 4 and would do a 6 or 8.

It's such a shame that Sylvania is such a small fit. I'd take it to a tailor and see what they can do, but if it is too tough (the lace may pose a problem as my Ilaria has limited seam allowance), you may want to try selling it rather than ruining it. I don't think Jane made this in an 8, although it is possible.

call v.o.d. I believe they had some zeniths left last week and they were on sale.

Moya said...

Do you know how much they were? Thanks so much!

UM said...

I just spoke to them and they sold their last one a week ago. I am sorry! this is what they have left, and it is on sale.
V.O.D.(214-754-0644)
Dezra top size 2,4
nia skort size 2
betto dress gray fleece XS,S,M

shopdiavolina.com has it in goldenrod at $427 (!)
and I guess Van Jean has it but full price.

Does anyone have the Jeanne dress? Do you like it? I never tried it on in the store.

Moya said...

Thanks, Uma. I guess it's not to be--at least not yet. I think diavolina even sold their Zenith at that price.

I don't have the Jeanne and didn't try it on, Elena. I know the Loulou sweater, which was similar, ran large/true to size. Susan is really nice and will be honest about fit.

Thanks Moya!

Again, thanks so much for keeping us in mind! You are so great!

I have the Jeanne in a medium. I actually just ran over to odessa and Susan was REALLY rude to me (and I have been in there before). That said I wont be back.

Jane mentioned to me about putting some stuff up and selling it - i wonder if she is still doing that. I got that leopard marius for $195. Jane also only had teh michela in the lotus print in teh goldenrod with Rio Plata, obviously if its the black version of teh print I will buy it, but I am fairly certain what Uma posted was what jane tod me that was left which was the goldenrod color way... which i wasnt sold on.

UM said...

Hi Marti, Metier was able to order their own colorways at the beginning of the ten little indians caper. They can't be sure of what they getting until they actually get the box in their hands, but what I printed is what they ordered and are expecting.

UM said...

ooh sorry - what they ARE getting. That was a typo, not poor grammar on my part

hello uma...i do have the travel billie and its nice...yes as moya says it is truly a big bag and the straps are somewhat adjustable..if i get a chance i will take a post a picture of the bag so you know what it looks like...it is a great overnight bag but not sure it is such an everyday bag...i do think a big bag always makes a person 10 lbs slimmer...hehehe

the prices do seems a bit high but the nieves dress with the flamingo embroidery sounds very reasonable..i was sad i did not snatch one

I wish I'd gotten the purple bag you picked up, Loretta. It's amazing how I thought I'd have no regrets this time (especially given how much I ended up spending) but I think it would have been nice for conferences, trips home, etc. I had hoped the remaining bag would go down to 30% off but it looks like it is being shipped to Metier instead.

The Nieves with flamingo embroidery didn't make it to our day of the sale did it? (Friday). I got the one with black embroidery--I'm wearing it now.

UM said...

Thank you Loretta and Moya. I know I am going to have to pay more but at least I will have a chance to get some things I missed. The vanya looks very pretty in the photo. Did anyone get that? I want the nieves for sure and the bag sounds intriguing.

Moya said...

I think the Vanya is prettier in the photo, to be honest. The fabric is shiny and the color is a little strong for me--I love the fabric as a trim for Anahi but there was a little too much of it here. The Nieves is still a good deal at $195 (and eminently wearable--it even has pockets), as is the bag given how big it is.

Uma, I'm glad you got the astrid-so beautiful but sadly not the right silhouette for me! VOD is just about cleaned out of their mayle! All they had left was dezra, nia and betto. I must have missed their sale because things I had my eye on sold out.

Some consignment stores can be way overpriced but still a lot cheaper than ebay. The only mayle I've bought on ebay was magheeta and I'm surprised nobody fought me for it. It retailed for over $700, I think, and is an amazing hand crafted piece–well worth the $100 I paid.
